Amex Gold Mining has announced the completion of drill and blast works for a bulk sample portal at its Perron development site in north-western Québec, Canada.
The completion of blasting represents a key structural milestone in the portal construction process. The portal is being built to provide access for the company’s underground development activities and its planned bulk sampling programme at the Perron site.
With blasting now finished, attention has turned to the next phase of physical works.
The portal contractor, CMAC-Thyssen Mining Group, has begun clearing the blasted material from the site.
The contractor is due to begin ground support installation shortly, a process that will reinforce the portal structure ahead of further underground development.
CMAC-Thyssen Mining Group was retained by Amex Gold last month as the contractor responsible for delivering the 40,000t bulk sample programme at the Perron Gold Project.
Once complete, the portal will facilitate the 40,000t bulk sample initiative, which is central to the company’s strategy for advancing Perron toward potential production.
The programme is expected to generate geological, geotechnical, metallurgical and operational data, while also working to confirm the high-grade potential that has been identified at the site.
Any future integration of this infrastructure into a commercial mining operation remains contingent on the company obtaining the necessary permits.
Amex Gold Mining president and CEO Victor Cantore highlighted the significance of the milestone, stating: “This is another defining milestone for the Perron Project.
“We look forward to commencing ramp development in the near term as we continue to safely and responsibly advance the Perron Project toward bulk sample extraction.”
The next stage of construction will focus on the underground exploration ramp, which the company has confirmed will be built in line with Amex Gold’s approved guidelines.
Safety, environmental responsibility and community engagement have been identified as priorities throughout this phase of the project.
Amex Gold has indicated it will provide further updates as work on the Perron Project continues to progress, with the ramp development and ground support installation representing the immediate focus for the project team.
The Perron Gold Project is situated approximately 110km north of Rouyn-Noranda in Québec and encompasses 183 contiguous claims spanning a surface area of 65.72 km².
The project area is known to host numerous zones of high-grade gold mineralisation, as well as volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) and hybrid gold-rich VMS mineralisation, positioning it as a site of ongoing interest for the company’s exploration and development efforts.
With portal blasting now complete and ground support work set to begin, Amex Gold appears to be steadily progressing the infrastructure needed to support its bulk sampling ambitions, bringing the Perron Project a step closer to its next phase of development.
