Queensland’s ultimate mining industry event returns
Registrations are now open for the 2024 Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME). Every two years, QME takes over the heart of Mackay, held this year from 23-25 July 2024.
This year’s exhibition is setting benchmarks across event size, exhibitors and speakers, with a super-sized floor plan already promising attendees the ultimate opportunity for connection and competitive advantage in the Queensland mining industry.
QME’s indoor expo is set to break records, with the current space nearing maximum capacity and a third pavilion being opened to accommodate the growing interest from exhibitors. Indoor pavilions will feature hundreds of exhibitors, including Haynes, ATOM, Pirtek, and Flexco. One factor that sets the Queensland Mining Awards apart from other industry awards programs is the public and active participation of the high calibre judging panel. As the Awards celebrate a decade of excellence, the judging panel once again comprises executives from all levels of the C-Suite.
The QMA judges volunteer their time to review every single award in the program against a rigorous set of criteria, using their considerable industry expertise to determine true innovation and identify the game-changing developments for the industry.

IMARC 2023: Australia Poised to Take Global Lead in Critical Minerals
The announcement by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to double the investment in the Critical Minerals Fund sets the scene for this year’s International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney next week.
The AU$4 billion plan is aimed at expanding the production and processing of critical minerals in Australia to secure the country’s position as a global critical minerals powerhouse.
Mr Albanese said Australia is in a strong position to help the global shift to net-zero due to its large deposits of critical minerals.

IMARC 2023: A glance into the opportunities of Mongolia’s mining sector
Rich in natural resources, Mongolia has historically attracted significant foreign investment to its mining sector. Producing primarily coal, copper and gold, the mining industry is a crucial aspect of Mongolia’s economy and a significant contributor to its economic growth. With this growth, however, has come a heavy reliance on the mining sector and a range of environmental, social and economic challenges that the country has never had to grapple with.

After considerable success in 2022, the Mining Innovation and Research Battlefield, hosted at the Mining Indaba conference, is now open for applicants to submit their research proposals for this year’s competition.
On February 6, 2024, the Innovation & Research Battlefield, a high-profile event convened by Investing in African Mining Indaba (Mining Indaba) and the Development Partner Institute (DPI Mining), will provide a platform for participants to showcase early-stage innovations.
