The New South Wales Resources Regulator has released its Vehicle Interaction Discussion Paper and invites comments on the proposed recommendations.
The paper aims to address and improve safety measures and regulations concerning the interaction between vehicles and workers in the mining sector.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all workers within the mining industry, the Regulator has developed the paper and is seeking feedback on the potential pathways and positions it could take to address adverse vehicle interactions in the NSW mining industry.
Stakeholders are invited to provide their insights and feedback on the discussion paper until 8 September 2023.
NSW Resources Regulator Executive Director Peter Day said: “We value the input and expertise of the wider community, industry participants, and workers in helping us create safer environments for everyone in the resources sector.
“We encourage all stakeholders to actively engage in this consultation process and contribute their suggestions and ideas.”
After the consultation concludes, the NSW Resources Regulator will review all feedback received and consider it in the development of any necessary changes to policies and regulations.
The goal is to implement robust safety measures that protect the wellbeing of all workers involved in vehicle interactions within the resources sector.
