Brightstar Resources has confirmed that construction of its Laverton processing plant in the Goldfields project in Western Austral is progressing on schedule, keeping the company on track for first gold in June 2027.
The company said key civil and concrete activities continued to advance through September across the site, marking a transitional phase into structural, mechanical, and piping works.
Among the project’s main developments is the completion of the final major concrete pour in the primary crusher area, alongside completed concrete works at the surge bin.
Structural steel erection has commenced at the surge bin area, while CIL tank platework and strake welding are actively underway.
Work has also started on detailed earthworks and civil concrete for the LNG power station, alongside civil works progressing in the gold recovery, elution, and reagents areas.
Looking ahead to October, activities will focus on completing concrete across the recovery and reagents areas, commencing civil works for non-process infrastructure (NPI), and erecting structural steel at the grinding, classification, and primary crusher locations. The project team will also undertake initial borefield pump testing.
Parallel to processing plant development, site establishment has kicked off at the Lord Byron open pit. Operational development is underway to prepare facilities, site offices, and infrastructure ahead of open pit mining mobilisation targeted for the March quarter of 2027.
Early-stage target drilling also continued at the Laverton Hub during September, aimed at driving potential mineral resource growth near the mill site.
Brightstar Managing Director Alex Rovira said future cash flows generated from the 1.5 million-tonne-per-annum Laverton plant would provide essential funding to unlock the value of the company’s Sandstone gold project.
“Construction and development activities at our Goldfields Project continued to advance well in September, with the project development tracking to schedule for construction completion and first gold delivered in June 2027,” Rovira said.
