Gold Road Resources (ASX: GOR), a mid-tier gold production and exploration company, has announced significant advancements in its Yamarna mine readiness project in Western Australia.
The project aims to unlock future value from the company’s 100 per cent owned Yamarna tenements.
The Yamarna mineral resources, currently standing at 6.4 million tonnes at 2.44 g/t Au for 0.51 million ounces, are undergoing extensive studies and drilling programs.
Despite delays caused by heavy rainfall in March 2024, an accelerated reserve definition drilling program has commenced at the Gilmour Resource, which contains 2.9 million tonnes at 3.28 g/t Au for 303,000 ounces.
Three drilling rigs are currently operating at Gilmour, with step-out drilling to the north yielding promising exploration results.
This additional drilling has the potential to expand the mineral resource and broaden the scope of mining studies.
Gold Road is making progress on several fronts:
- Drilling at Gilmour is on track to deliver updated Resources and Reserves by late 2024.
- Technical studies supporting a comprehensive feasibility study are advancing, including geotechnical, metallurgical, hydrological, and infrastructure planning.
- Environmental studies and community engagement with the Yilka People are progressing well, focusing on co-designing infrastructure corridors and supporting the permitting and approvals process.
The company is conducting these studies and consultations with the vision of Gilmour being the first of several potential mining developments within the Yamarna tenure.
Gold Road anticipates that the Yamarna Mineral Resources will be developed and processed at the Gruyere joint venture site, which it co-owns with Gold Fields.
This development option provides a pathway to monetise the company’s 100 per cent owned discoveries and realise value from its Yamarna exploration program.
The Yamarna Terrane, located 200 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia, covers approximately 4,000 square kilometres with a strike length exceeding 180 kilometres.
This area is considered one of the most highly prospective yet under-explored greenstone belts in Western Australia.
As Gold Road continues to advance its Yamarna project, the company remains committed to its community engagement efforts, particularly with the Yilka people, the traditional owners of the land.
This includes providing contracting opportunities, cultural awareness workshops, and environmental rehabilitation work.
With these developments, Gold Road Resources is positioning itself for potential growth and increased value creation in the Western Australian gold sector.
