Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX: IEC) has announced the discovery of significant lithium anomalies at its Maggie Hays Hill (MHH) project in Western Australia’s Lake Johnston Greenstone Belt.
This discovery places the company at the forefront of lithium exploration, with the potential to impact the global lithium supply chain.
A recent soil sampling program revealed two major lithium anomalies, with the primary anomaly stretching over 2,500 metres in length and 300 metres in width.
The secondary anomaly measures 1,300 metres by 300 metres. These anomalies are notable for their high lithium values, reaching up to 248ppm Li2O, and are associated with tantalum and caesium, elements indicative of highly prospective lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) enriched pegmatites.
Strategically located near the Maggie Hays mine, these anomalies benefit from their proximity to Mineral Resources Limited’s recently established lithium processing hub, less than 15 kilometres away, enhancing the project’s logistical and economic feasibility.
esIEC Managing Director Ben Dunn stated: “We are very pleased with the results of the final part of the soil program at Maggie Hays, which has delineated two new compelling lithium targets that are also highly anomalous in caium and tantalum, key pathfinder elements used to identify pegmatites in the spodumene enrichment zone.
“The new large-scale lithium targets extend over strike lengths of 2,500 metres and 1,300 metres respectively. IEC has now identified multiple lithium targets and has scheduled a drilling program for the June quarter.”
Situated 25 kilometres north of the Burmeister Spodumene deposit and northwest of the Medcalf Spodumene deposit, the MHH project is positioned in a region known for its rich lithium reserves.
The discovery of these anomalies underscores the area’s untapped potential and aligns with Intra Energy Corporation’s strategic vision to become a key player in the global lithium market.
Intra Energy Corporation has outlined an aggressive exploration roadmap, with a first-pass RC drilling program scheduled for the June quarter, subject to necessary approvals.
The company is committed to working closely with the Ngadju Native Title Aboriginal Corporation to ensure all cultural and environmental considerations are addressed.
Intra Energy Corporation stated that the company remains dedicated to exploring and developing its assets responsibly, with a strong focus on environmental stewardship and community engagement.
