Manuka Resources Ltd. has recommenced gold production at its Wonawinta processing plant in New South Wales’ Cobar Basin.
The operational restart follows an intensive five-month recommissioning phase that delivered critical upgrades to the site’s power generation infrastructure, laboratory facilities, and processing circuit components.
Processing operations have commenced using gold ore hauled from Manuka’s Mt Boppy mine. Over 50,000 tonnes of stockpiled Mt Boppy ore, grading approximately 1.1 grams per tonne of gold, is already on site at Wonawinta, with the company targeting between 125,000 and 140,000 tonnes of gold ore processing over the next three months.
The recommencement of gold production marks the first stage of Manuka’s broader, long-term precious metals production strategy across its regional assets.
Following the initial gold ramp-up, the company will focus on completing remaining plant installations ahead of a planned transition to silver processing in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Equipment for a new de-slime circuit continues to arrive at the site to improve handling of Wonawinta’s clay-rich silver ores. Once the de-slime circuit is fully commissioned, the facility will process gold and silver ores simultaneously.
“Today marks an important milestone for Manuka as we commence the restart of gold production at Wonawinta following an intensive recommissioning program,” said Manuka Executive Chairman Dennis Karp.
“With more than 50,000 tonnes of Mt Boppy gold ore already stockpiled at Wonawinta, our immediate focus is on establishing consistent production and progressively ramping up operations.”
Karp added that the upcoming silver circuit upgrades will provide the business with diversified commercial exposure across both gold and silver markets heading into late 2026.
“This is the beginning of what we expect to be a sustained period of precious metals production for Manuka.”
