Sultan Resources Ltd. has lodged an application for a 171.2-square-kilometre exploration licence in Namibia’s highly prospective Central Damara Orogen, expanding its footprint in one of Africa’s premier mining districts.
The application for the Kaalkop Project (EPL11820), situated roughly five kilometres south of Kalkfeld, places Sultan in an established multi-million-ounce gold province that is rapidly drawing increased attention for copper mineralisation.
Sultan also secured the prospective acreage directly via application without issuing consideration shares or equity securities.
The non-dilutive structure preserves the company’s capital structure while giving existing shareholders direct exposure to a large-scale exploration opportunity.
The Kaalkop project presents dual copper and gold potential across prospective granite-carbonate contacts, deformed metasedimentary sequences, and major regional structures, including the Abbabis Lineament.
Historical exploration across the permit area focused on copper, lead, and zinc associated with carbonate rocks and tin-tungsten in pegmatites, but no reported modern exploration targeting gold has ever taken place.
Regional developments underscore the permit’s strong prospectivity. The tenement lies east of WIA Gold’s Kokoseb gold project, which recently expanded its mineral resource estimate to 113 million tonnes at one gram per tonne for 3.78 million ounces of gold.
The broader Central Damara region also hosts major deposits including Navachab, Ondundu, Twin Hills, and the Eureka discovery.
On the copper front, neighbouring explorer Kaoko Metals recently reported high-grade rock-chip sampling results of up to 4.9 per cent copper at its Karibib project, further highlighting the broader belt’s potential for significant copper systems.
Upon the expected grant of the licence next quarter, Sultan plans to commence systematic exploration.
Initial work programs will include compiling historical datasets, mapping priority granite-carbonate contact zones, conducting rock-chip sampling, and designing follow-up soil geochemistry programs to refine drilling targets.
Sultan is targeting hydrothermal gold mineralisation in the Central Damara Zone (CZ), which is a direct, late-stage product of the polyphase deformation and high-temperature metamorphism which gave rise to the Karibib gold district.
