Global Lithium Resources Ltd. has secured approval for its mining development and closure proposal (MDCP) for the Manna lithium project, clearing the path for early infrastructure works for the Western Australian project.
The regulatory approval substantially de-risks the project’s accelerated development schedule and supports the company’s integrated Manna-Nova operational pathway.
Located 110 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, the proposed Manna open-pit lithium mine is planned to operate for at least 14 years. The approved MDCP encompasses the development of three open pits, comprising the Manna Main pit alongside the Manna North and Manna South satellites, waste rock dumps, dry stack tailings facilities, an accommodation village, bore fields, and key mining infrastructure.
The regulatory milestone provides operational certainty as Global Lithium works toward a final investment decision (FID) targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Under the fast-tracked timeline, the developer aims to achieve first direct shipping ore (DSO) in the second quarter of 2027, followed by initial production of SC5.5 spodumene concentrate by mid-2027.
Global Lithium Managing Director Dianmin Chen said receiving the approval ahead of internal timelines reflects the technical rigour of the project team.
“This is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team and strengthens our integrated Manna-Nova development plan,” Chen said.
“Securing this critical permit further accelerates our path to production, underpinning our commitment to become Australia’s next lithium producer and delivering real value to our shareholders and community partners.”
With key environmental and operational frameworks now formally approved, Global Lithium will move to initiate site preparation, early earthworks, and infrastructure installation across the Kalgoorlie tenure in the coming months.
