Gold producer Challenger Gold has appointed a new director for the company as they work towards adopting more sustainably responsible mining practices.
Dr Sonia Delgado has a background in both the legal and mining sectors as a graduate with honours in law, Dr Delgado currently holds a Master’s degree in labour law and has worked in the Argentinian legal and mining landscapes for many years.
She has been running her own law firm specialising in Argentinian labour law since 2004.
Dr Delgado’s career in the Argentinian public sector includes having held the positions of: Assistant Office of the State Prosecutor of the Province of San Juan, Undersecretary of Planning and Promotion of Mining Development, as well as the Secretary of Mining for the province of San Juan, Argentina.
She hopes to align mining operations with global standards and investor expectations.
Challenger Gold said Dr Delgado’s guidance will be instrumental in implementing production processes that are not only efficient but also mindful of environmental and social responsibilities.

Challenger Gold is currently developing two complementary gold-copper projects in South America with the Company’s flagship Hualilan Gold Project in San Juan, Argentina which contains a mineral resource estimate of 2.8 Moz AuEq.
